Randall P. Birdwell

Randall P. Birdwell, a native Texan, began his housing career with a national builder in 1978. In 1987, he led Emerald Homes into the Houston market and structured a management buyout in 1991. Under his leadership as President and CEO, Emerald went on to become one of top 60 builders in the nation receiving numerous state and national awards, including Builder of the Year, Outstanding Volume Builder, and Outstanding Builder in the Southwest. Emerald operated in four markets and had affiliated operations in the areas of mortgage and title.

In July 2001, Randy sold Emerald to the largest homebuilder in the country. He served as the Region President for the aquiring builder and on the company’s operating committee.  In 2005, he managed 12 divisions, $2.3 billion in assets, and over 23,000 closings.

Over  the past 30 years, Randy has profitably managed homebuilding operations from coast to coast – CA, AZ, TX, IL, WI, MN, AL, GA, FL, NC, and SC.

He has actively volunteered on a local, state, and national level, and served as President of the Greater Houston Builders Association and the Texas Association of Builders (TAB). He is a Life Director of the National Association of Homebuilders and TAB.

Randy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and is a Trustee of Asbury Theological Seminary.


 
Thomas D. Cox Jr.

Thomas D. Cox Jr. began his housing career as a customer service representative for nationally recognized Emerald Homes in January 1993. Tom served as assistant to Emerald CEO, Randall P. Birdwell; Project Manager in Guadalajara, Mexico; Senior Operations Manager of Emerald’s Phoenix Division, and Division President of Emerald’s Dallas Division.

When Emerald was sold to a national builder in July 2001, Tom managed the Dietz-Crane startup, achieving profitability in only three months. He later combined three existing divisions into one.   In four years’ time, Tom successfully took a startup producing 190 units and $30 million in revenues to over 2,670 units and $490 million in revenues, representing an unprecedented growth of over 400% in four years.

Tom has profitably started up three homebuilding divisions in Dallas, Houston, and Mexico, and played a key role in a fourth in Phoenix.

Over the course of his career, Tom has actively participated in major homebuilding industry associations and is an active member at the Woodlands United Methodist Church. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from Mississippi State University.
